DVT Grad
iOS Mobile App
An iOS App for the Graduates at DVT to access all things “Grad”
The below case study explores the UX/UI process for the design of a secure mail client from inception to a design solution.
DVT Grad
An iOS App for the DVT Graduates
Duration
March 2023- April 2023
Background
DVT has one of the largest and most successful Graduate Programmes for Mobile and Web developers. As part of the graduate Programmes development, an App has been built to enable the Graduates to access “All things Grad”
The design of the DVT Grad App was done in response to the brief that called for one centralised platform for the DVT Graduates to access all of their course content, lesson notes, additional resources as well as to connect with their course coordinators. This app is designed to be an MVP and is envisioned to grow and expand in the coming years. It has been developed as an iOS app and will be developed for Android in future.
Brief
The DVT Grad App seeks to address the challenge of fragmented access to course content and inefficient communication between DVT Graduates and their course coordinators by providing a centralized platform. It aims to expand its reach from iOS to Android while continuously enhancing the user experience and scalability to meet the evolving needs of its users
Problem Statement
Information Architecture Site Map
This Site Map explores the DVT Grad app as a piece of a larger whole. The App explored in these designs addresses the purple part of this intricate Site Map.
In future the App is envisioned to apply the other three features, namely, an introduction to the programme, Workshops and Seminars as well as previous case studies and access to mentors.
User Stories
These User stories in the context of the DVT Grad App are like short descriptions of what users need from the app. They help the team understand what users want, decide what to build first, and make sure the app works well for users. User stories also help the team test the app and change it as needed to match users' needs and business goals.
The User Stories below explore the Screens needed ffrom the perspective of the Graduates as well as the Mentors/ Course Coordinators. These User stories allowed me to discern the Tasks that I neede to complete, the definition of done” as well as a brief overview of any additional screen contents.
Design Development
Sketch Designs, High-Fidelity Wireframes, Usability Testing
Sketch Exploration
sketch exploration in the context of the DVT Grad App is essential for fostering creativity, user-centric design and efficient iteration. It plays a vital role in the early stages of the design, contributing to the development of an app that meets the specific needs of DVT Graduates while managing risks and costs effectively.
High-Fidelity Wireframes
The purpose of wireframing in the context of developing the DVT Grad App is to create simple, visual representations of the app's interface and layout
In summary, wireframing helps in the early-stage planning and design of the DVT Grad App's interface, ensuring that it meets user needs, is easy to use, and aligns with project goals. It also aids in efficient development and cost-effective design improvements.
